Shantivan

Shantivan, or the Forest of Peace, is the Samadhi, or cremation spot of India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. Shantivan is visited by many visiting dignitaries and heads of state who come here to pay their respects. Special prayer services are organised on the birth and death anniversaries of Nehru.

Vijay Ghat

Vijay Ghat is the memorial of India’s second Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. Vijay means victory and his memorial was named after the victory he led India to in the 1965 war against Pakistan. The memorial marks the spot where Shastri was cremated and prayer services are held every year on his birth and death anniversaries. Many international heads of state and visiting dignitaries visit Vijay Ghat to pay their respects to this great leader.

Shakti Sthal

Shakti Sthal is the memorial of former Indian Iron lady and Prime Minister of India,  Indira Gandhi. The structure of the memorial is sixteen feet high and has been made using 60 tonnes of iron ore, which signify the strength and fortitude of Indira Gandhi’s character.

Gandhi Museum

The National Gandhi Museum or Gandhi Memorial Museum is a museum located in New Delhi, India showcasing the life and principles of Mahatma Gandhi. The museum first opened in Mumbai, shortly after Gandhi was assassinated in 1948.

India Gate

Standing tall in the central part of Delhi is the India Gate which acts a memorial for the thousands of soldiers who sacrificed their lives for Mother India during the different wars. The pillar has the names of over 13000 soldiers inscribed in it. Owing to its massive structure, emotional history and central location, India Gate is visited by all kinds of tourists.

Safdarganj Tomb

Safdarjung’s Tomb is a sandstone and marble mausoleum in Delhi, India. It was built in 1754 in the late Mughal Empire style for Nawab Safdarjung. The monument has an ambience of spaciousness and an imposing presence with its domed and arched red brown and white coloured structures.

Qutub Minar

It is a 43m long Minaret with a 14m diameter at the base and What’s interesting to note is that the 5 storeys were not constructed at once. In fact, the constructed was initiated by Qitub-ud-Din Aibak who only created the basement which was taken over by his successor, Iltutmish, who then build the next three storeys.

Parliament House

If you have the slightest interest in politics, you will know about that the Parliament House. Commonly known as the Sansad Bhawan, it accommodates the Lok Sabha & the Rajya Sabha. It has the offices of the various ministers, committees and is home to a large library.

The Indira Gandhi Memorial is a museum established to commemorate India’s first and the only female Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. It is housed in the building where Gandhi lived with her family during her premiership and where she was assassinated.

Teen Murti Bhavan

Originally the residence of the Commander-in-Chief of the British Forces in India, the Teen Murti Bhavan housed the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. The house was converted into a national memorial comprising a library and a museum after Nehru’s death. The library is one of the finest ones for information on modern Indian history. The house gets its name after the Teen Murti (three statues) Memorial, which stands on its extensive grounds.
